Leader Skellefteå Älvdal's development strategy
Each leader area is its own organization with its own development strategy. Around 160 people have been involved in the preparatory work. The voluntary, private, and public sectors collaborate in the implementation of the development strategy. It serves as a guiding document for prioritizing and selecting projects that contribute to fulfilling the strategy's goals and vision. The work is carried out through the leader method and with support from the Rural Development Fund.

Ideas are given space through differences and development power
We harness voluntary forces and engagement. Together we create a welcoming environment for those who have an idea. The area leads the way in the transition to a sustainable society with development power.
The goal stimulates environmental care and joint climate actions, contributing to the union's environmental and climate-related goals in accordance with the goals of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
The world's best everyday life with an active life
Everyday life is simple and inviting for residents and visitors. An active leisure time with a wide range where attractive housing options are offered in a safe environment. The cultural heritage is cared for, utilized, and developed.
The goal contributes to improving the socio-economic structures of rural areas in accordance with the goals of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development by providing people with equal opportunities and conditions to grow up, live, work, and age.
Everything is close with a local and sustainable supply
We have good conditions to maintain and expand services locally and remotely. It is close between people, to culture, leisure, nature, and jobs. A digital infrastructure and a well-functioning and sustainable transport system connect city and countryside.
The goal contributes to promoting a smart, resilient, and diversified agricultural sector for food security in accordance with the goals of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development by focusing on the circular economy, creating benefits for individuals, organizations, and rural areas.

The projects should also provide opportunities for residents in our rural areas to gain improved access to services and infrastructure.

INTERVENTION AREA 1
Collaboration, participation, and hospitality
An open society where everyone has the opportunity to be involved, influence, and contribute to development is an important factor for development. The future Leader Skellefteå Älvdal must be shaped by young people and newcomers from different regions and countries. When young people are given increased opportunities to influence and create the future Leader Skellefteå Älvdal, the chance that they feel proud of their hometown and dare to believe in and invest in it increases.
Good hospitality is important to attract more residents. Integration and hospitality are interconnected. Many of those who move here have their backgrounds in other countries and cultures. With increased knowledge of good hospitality and other cultures, it becomes easier for newcomers to feel welcome and quickly become aware of and part of the local community. There is plenty of room for more people here, both physically, in the labor market, and in social contexts. With new people also comes competence, new perspectives, and new ideas that enrich our area.
FOCUS AREA 2
Leisure and housing
Focus area 2 includes leisure and housing. In Leader Skellefteå Älvdal there are conditions for quality of life in many respects. Efforts are needed to facilitate living in the countryside and to make the area attractive. The local population's pride and trust in their community is credible and effective marketing towards visitors and potential newcomers.
In an attractive area, efforts are needed that contribute to increased social cohesion, increased security, and meaningful leisure. The association life plays a significant role in the work with activities and meeting places.
FOCUS AREA 3
Sustainability, local supply and entrepreneurship.
Focus area 3 includes sustainability, local supply, and entrepreneurship. In Skellefteå Älvdal, there are rich resources in our nature and our cultural heritage. There are good conditions to develop new businesses and unique reasons to visit. Initiatives that stimulate entrepreneurship and contribute to a strengthened local supply through new products, services, and reasons to visit based on the area's natural resources and conditions.
To further strengthen Leader Skellefteå Älvdal, a long-term and sustainable development effort is needed. This can occur through increased collaboration between different groups and actors in the community and monitoring of the external environment.
Basic conditions and selection criteria
Basic conditions
The project is locally anchored and has a bottom-up perspective.
Local anchoring means that there is a locally identified need among those affected and that there is support for the project among residents and those active in the local area. A bottom-up perspective means that the idea and initiative should come from those affected and local engagement should be utilized.
Those affected are those who actively participate in or are impacted by the project's efforts.
The project is carried out in collaboration
Collaboration means that two or more actors carry out an initiative together for a common benefit. This can involve actively exchanging information or planning or implementing joint activities. Collaboration can occur between the private, non-profit, and public sectors. A pure service purchase is not considered collaboration.
The project contributes to fulfilling the purpose and goals in Leader Skellefteå Älvdal's Local Development Strategy 2023-2027
Fulfilling the purpose and goals means that the project idea contributes to achieving the target value for the focus area. The benefit falls to many within Leader Skellefteå Älvdal's geographical area. The project is part of the Rural Development Fund and should be implemented within the program period 2023-2027.
